We celebrated Easter Sunday together as a whole church. We started with an orchestra played by our very own church members, time of worship, praise. In the end we had great banquet. Everyone brought their best dish for a potluck lunch. For a moment, we got a glimpse of what Jesus was talking about Heaven, that it's like a great banquet.
The IGSM and IUSM sisters had a sleep over at Monterey and had a great time enjoying nature, eating food, riding bicycles and bond together.
This year, IGSM and IUSM we celebrated Chinese New Year together. Shufei gave a short bible study on Genesis and afterwards we were designated into different groups and come up with some performance called lightning performance. It was definitely a memorable time laughing and enjoying one another's company.
This past valentine's, IGSM had the opportunity to spend valentine's with the elderly at an Oakland nursing home. Dai gave a message on God's love and at the end we sang a song to encourage them.
Last weekend we had our annual winter retreat where we had extended time learning about God's words at Sierra Lodge. This year was special because IGSM Davis joined us for the retreat and we had an awesome time listening to messages but we also had some fun time in the snow sledding and throwing snowballs at each other. We also had an awesome time singing campfire songs, eating marshmallows, hotdogs.
This past week, Jisup gave the bible study on Luke 2 and talked about the arrival of Jesus and talked about why Jesus came as a baby in a manger rather than as a king with armies. Afterwards, we had an awesome Christmas gift exchange.
We had an awesome time celebrating Thanksgiving with delicious food and awesome performance.
Jisup Hong gave the bible study on Luke 14: The Great banquet. He said that people often take the blessings from God turn it into an idol that cause them to make excuses to not seek God. Afterwards we had fun going through a corn maze.
Sara Hong gave the bible study on Mark 5 talking about how Jesus healed Jairus's daughter and the bleeding woman. Jesus doesn't only want to heal us but he also wants to connect with us relationally. Afterwards we had an awesome night of dumpling making!
Jisup gave a bible on John 2 about the wedding in Cana. In life, things don't always go the way we expect no matter how much we plan for it. Things always run out. Jesus who turned water into wine at the wedding shows that he can recreate things and it also signifies that he can cleanse us from our sins.
